What is a floor-standing monosplit
The floor-standing monosplit connects a single vertical floor indoor unit to one outdoor unit. It is the most straightforward configuration when you want to cool a single large room with a dedicated system: one column, one outdoor unit, no power shared with other rooms. All the energy of the outdoor unit works for that room, so you keep a stable temperature even across large areas.
Why choose a single column for a single room
When the room to be cooled is just one but it is large, the floor-standing monosplit is often the best solution:
- All the power stays concentrated on a single room, with no losses.
- The system is simple to size, install and manage over time.
- The floor unit is easy to reach for filter cleaning and maintenance.
If instead the rooms to serve are more than one, it is worth considering a multisplit system with one outdoor unit for several indoor units.
How many BTU you need for a single large room
The power is chosen based on the square metres, the height and the insulation of the room. Among the floor-standing monosplits you will find these capacities:
- 12000 BTU: single rooms larger than average.
- 24000 BTU: large living rooms and busy spaces.
- 36000 and 42000 BTU: large living areas, offices and open spaces.
- 48000 BTU: the largest surfaces and double-height rooms.
Inverter heat pump all year round
The inverter heat pump floor-standing monosplit cools in summer and heats in winter, modulating the output to keep the temperature constant and reduce consumption. Efficiency is shown by the SEER value in cooling and the SCOP value in heating: the higher these indices, the lower the electricity consumption over the season.
The brands available for the floor-standing monosplit
You will find the leading manufacturers in the sector, with official warranty and available spare parts: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, Hisense and Haier. Prices range from around 1789 to 4330 euro, depending on power, technology and brand, with all models ready to ship.
Installation, reduced VAT and incentives
The purchase and installation of a heat pump floor-standing monosplit may qualify for tax incentives where applicable, such as reduced VAT for renovation work. The conditions depend on the type of work, so it is worth checking the current requirements before buying.
