What is a wall-mounted quad split air conditioner?
The wall-mounted quad split air conditioner is made up of four indoor units mounted on the wall and connected to a single outdoor unit. It is the solution designed to cool four different rooms, such as bedrooms, living room and study, while keeping just one outdoor unit on the facade. Thanks to inverter heat pump technology, it cools in summer and heats in winter, with the advantage of a tidy system and a smaller outdoor footprint.
Why choose a quad split instead of four single splits
Installing four separate systems would mean four outdoor units, with more holes, more brackets and a greater visual impact. With a quad split you use a single outdoor unit for all four rooms, reducing clutter and simplifying maintenance. If instead you need fewer rooms, you can consider a wall-mounted single split, a dual split system or a wall-mounted triple split.
How many BTU do you need for each room?
In a quad split, each indoor unit has its own power, chosen based on the square metres and insulation of the individual room. In our catalogue you will mainly find these sizes:
- 9000 BTU: rooms up to around 25 m², such as bedrooms and studies.
- 12000 BTU: rooms from 25 to 35 m², such as medium-sized living rooms.
- 18000 BTU: rooms from 35 to 50 m² and open-plan spaces.
The outdoor unit's power takes into account the sum of the indoor units, so it is worth combining the sizes based on the real use of the rooms. If you are unsure about the right combination, you can start from the multi split configurator.
Consumption and energy class
Cooling efficiency is shown by the SEER value, while heating efficiency is shown by the SCOP: the higher these indices, the lower the consumption. Inverter technology modulates the power instead of switching on and off continuously, so a quad split serves four rooms while keeping electricity draw under control, especially when not all rooms are running at the same time.
The best brands available
You will find the sector's leading manufacturers, with official warranty and available spare parts: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch, Haier, Fujitsu, Hisense, Samsung, Toshiba and LG. Prices start from around 1135 euros and go up to 7020 euros, depending on the combination of indoor units and the performance required.
Tax incentives and reduced VAT
The purchase and installation of a heat pump air conditioner may qualify for tax incentives where applicable, such as reduced VAT for renovation work. The conditions depend on the type of work, so it is worth checking the up-to-date requirements before buying.
