What is a wall-mounted trial split air conditioner?
The wall-mounted trial split air conditioner consists of three indoor units connected to a single outdoor unit. It is the ideal solution when you want to air-condition three different rooms, for example the bedroom, living room and study, with just one unit on the facade. Thanks to inverter heat-pump technology it cools in summer and heats in winter, reducing the outdoor footprint compared with three separate monosplits.
When is a trial split better than three monosplits?
A trial split makes sense when you have little outdoor space or want a tidier look on the facade. With a single unit you reduce wall penetrations, simplify maintenance and optimise consumption when the three rooms are not always running together. If instead you only need to cover two rooms, you can consider a dual split system, while for a single room the monosplit remains more economical.
Which BTU sizes are in the wall-mounted trial splits?
Each indoor unit has its own capacity, to be matched to the square metres of the room. In our catalogue you will mainly find these sizes:
- 9000 BTU: rooms up to around 25 m², such as bedrooms and studies.
- 12000 BTU: rooms from 25 to 35 m², such as medium-sized living rooms.
- 15000 BTU: rooms from 35 to 45 m² with good exposure.
- 18000 BTU: rooms from 35 to 50 m² and open-plan spaces.
You can combine the three units according to your rooms, or start from the multisplit configurator to build the system to measure.
Does the trial split really heat in winter too?
Yes. The inverter heat-pump models produce heat efficiently even at low outdoor temperatures, thanks to a good SCOP value. In many situations, heating with a trial split in a high energy class is more cost-effective than gas radiators, especially in the shoulder seasons, and lets you manage each room independently.
The best trial split brands available
You will find the leading manufacturers in the sector, with official warranty and available spare parts: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, Bosch, Fujitsu, Haier and Panasonic. The prices of trial split systems start from around 729 euros and go up to the highest-performing configurations, for every budget.
Consumption, energy class and efficiency
Cooling efficiency is read from the SEER value, while heating efficiency is read from the SCOP: the higher these indices, the lower the consumption. Inverter technology modulates power instead of switching on and off continuously, so each indoor unit works only as much as needed. For maximum integration you can opt for smart models compatible with Alexa and Google Home.
